Veria is built at the foot of the mountain Vermio. It has a history of more than 2700 years and many historical monuments are still saved. There are two maintained historical areas, Kiriotissa and the Jewish community (Barbouta). Of particular importance are the 59 Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches with their colourful wall paintings.
The visitors can wander around the small roads of the old city, visit the old Muslim monuments, admire the old traditional houses...In the new city, visitors can visit the churches, see the neoclassical houses, shop in the market (agora). One should also visit the Byzantine museum (an old water mill) which has been recently awarded with the Europa Nostra award for its exceptional renovation, the archeological and laographic museums, the Macedonian museum, the exceptional city hall, the Apostle's Paul bema, and if they are lucky they could even attend a musical event in the Veria's Arts center.
One can also visit several archaeological sites nearby, such as Vergina where the prehistoric cemetery, the ancient city, the palaces, the theatre and the tombs (Philip's, the father of Alexander the Great, tomb) with the impressive paintings as well as the museum with the outstanding exhibits are located.
Not far from Vergina lies the New Nikomidia, where one of the oldest Neolithic agricultural settlements in Europe (created in 7000 BC) was found, the Palatitsia village where several Macedonian tombs are saved as well as the archaeological site of Pella and Dion Museum. On the way to Edessa the ancient Macedonian city of Mieza (in the villages Lefkadia-Kopanos) and Aristotle's school are found.
The area is ideal for eco-tourism, hiking or climbing.
In addition it is very close to ski resorts: Seli (height 1520m-1900m), only 20 min away from the hotel, 3-5 Pigadia (height 1400-2052m), Elatohori (height 1400-1700m), Vorras (height 2000-2300)
